Coventry Welsh continued their good league start with a hard earned win over Stoke Old Boys. The Welsh started well and after some sustained pressure were awarded a penalty which was converted by Luke Horan. At the 20 minute mark centre Liam Horan cut through the Stoke defence at pace to score a fine try in the corner which Luke Horan converted. As half time approached the Welsh turned the ball over and No.8 Matt Carrier jinked over the line from 30m for another try again converted by Luke Horan. If the Welsh thought Stoke would roll over they were mistaken as after the break they came storming out to put the home side under considerable pressure. Time and time again the Welsh held firm with some outstanding defence but with a player in the sin bin the pressure finally told and Stoke went over from a rolling maul to score an unconverted try. Back at full strength the Welsh settled and once again looked menacing as they ran the ball.  The Old Boys defended their line valiently but eventually the Welsh breeched the defensive wall for Chris Neal to dive over for a try, again converted by Luke Horan. Luke Horan succeeded with another penalty as the game ended.
